Electronic Music is one of the most rhythmic genres of music that composers and artists create today. Ableton is the most likely software environment that composers and artists choose to create their electronic music, too. So, it makes sense that any electronic musician will need to understand the principles of good rhythm AND how to apply those principles in Ableton Live.
This course will teach you about both Ableton and rhythm - especially the slight differences between different genres of electronic music. This course dissects 7 beat patterns and demonstrates their unique characteristics on the Ableton Push 2 MIDI controller. These beat genres include:
- UK Garage
- Jungle/Drum 'n Bass
Learn to recognize how these beats share common traits (including their historical ties to disco and R&B's backbeat). This course is designed to make each beat very clear to students who can follow along on Ableton's Push 2. When you're done with the course, you'll be able to craft beats that will recreate the signature rhythms of all the 7 electronic music genres above.
