Who should learn this skill?
Using downstrokes and upstrokes correctly by matching them to downbeats and upbeats in music.
Primary Concepts for This Skill
- Most guitarists with strumming troubles, actually have timing/rhythm problems. Getting clear on timing and rhythm (and the use of down/up strokes is the most common “fix”).
- The best way to develop as a good strummer is to strum with a beat (or metronome) while paying close attention to using down/up strokes on down/up beats.
- Getting to the point where you can strum guitar intuitively, requires building a muscle memory with down/up strokes – then one can strum intuitively (just like tapping your foot to music becomes intuitive).
Pre-Requisites (Recommended Only)
